Seamless steel pipes are made by piercing steel ingots or solid billets into capillary tubes, which are then hot-rolled, cold-rolled, or cold-rolled. Seamless steel pipes have a hollow cross-section and are widely used as pipelines for conveying fluids. Compared with solid steel materials such as round steel, steel pipes are lighter in weight when their bending and torsional strength is the same. Overview of seamless steel pipes
The specifications of seamless steel pipes are expressed as outer diameter * wall thickness in millimeters. Seamless steel pipes are divided into two categories: hot-rolled and cold-rolled (drawn) seamless steel pipes. Hot rolled seamless steel pipes are divided into general steel pipes, low and medium pressure boiler steel pipes, high-pressure boiler steel pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, petroleum cracking pipes, geological steel pipes, and other steel pipes. Cold rolled (dialed) seamless steel pipes, in addition to general steel pipes, low and medium pressure boiler steel pipes, high-pressure boiler steel pipes, alloy steel pipes, stainless steel pipes, petroleum cracking pipes, and other steel pipes, also include carbon thin-walled steel pipes, alloy thin-walled steel pipes, stainless thin-walled steel pipes, and special-shaped steel pipes. Hot rolled seamless pipes generally have an outer diameter greater than 32mm and a wall thickness of 2.5-75mm. Cold rolled seamless steel pipes can have an outer diameter of up to 6mm and a wall thickness of up to 0.25mm, while thin-walled pipes can have an outer diameter of up to 5mm and a wall thickness less than 0.25mm. Cold rolling has higher dimensional accuracy than hot rolling. Generally, seamless steel pipes are made of high-quality carbon bonded steel such as 16Mn, 5MnV, or 40Cr, 30CrMnSi, 45Mn2, and 40MnB by hot rolling or cold rolling. 10. Seamless pipes made of grade 20 low-carbon steel are mainly used for fluid transportation pipelines. Seamless pipes made of medium carbon steel such as 45 and 40Cr are used to manufacture mechanical parts, such as load-bearing parts for automobiles and tractors. Seamless steel pipes are generally used to ensure strength and flattening tests. Hot rolled steel pipes are delivered in either hot-rolled or heat-treated condition; Cold rolled and delivered in heat treated condition. Hot rolling, as the name suggests, means that the temperature of the rolled piece is high, so the deformation resistance is small and can achieve a large amount of deformation. Taking the rolling of steel plates as an example, the thickness of continuous casting billets is generally around 230mm, but after rough rolling and finishing rolling, the final thickness is 1-20mm. At the same time, due to the small aspect ratio of steel plates and relatively low dimensional accuracy requirements, it is not easy to encounter plate shape problems, and the focus is on controlling convexity. For those with organizational requirements, it is generally achieved through controlled rolling and cooling, that is, controlling the opening temperature, final rolling temperature, and curling temperature of precision rolling to control the microstructure and mechanical properties of the strip steel.
