Development and application of composite sand filter screen tube

A composite sand filter screen tube has been developed to address the issues of poor anti silt effect, high cost, difficulty in repair, and low reuse rate of ordinary screen tubes. This type of sand filter tube can filter fine sand with a diameter of less than 0.05mm, and has the advantages of easy repair and low cost. Through on-site experiments in 21 wells, ideal sand control effects have been achieved.

The graded sand control screen tube is composed of multiple layers of filter screens, with different mesh sizes in each layer. The mesh size of the outer filter screen is larger than that of the inner layer, and a certain size of formation sand is blocked by the outer filter screen, forming a first stage stable sand bridge. The finer formation sand will be absorbed and filtered by the inner filter layer for a second time, forming a second stage sand bridge, and ultimately smaller fine sand will be produced with the fluid.

The median sand particle size in the production layer of West 48-8-3H well is small, with poor sorting and uniformity. The content of fine sandstone is as high as 42%, making it difficult to optimize the completion process. Researchers have optimized the use of composite graded sand control screen tube completion technology to address the issue of poor sand prevention and blocking effect of single-layer precision composite sand filter tubes, effectively improving the adaptability of completion technology to such reservoirs. The initial liquid production of the well is controlled at 32 cubic meters, with a daily oil production of about 30 tons. The wellhead liquid production does not contain sand, and currently, the daily oil production is stable at 26 tons.
