Oil casing is the lifeline for maintaining the operation of oil wells. Due to different geological conditions, the stress state underground is complex, and the combined effects of tension, compression, bending, and torsion stress on the casing body pose high requirements for the quality of the casing itself. Once the casing itself is damaged for some reason, it may lead to a reduction in production or even scrapping of the entire well.
According to the strength of the steel itself, the casing can be divided into different steel grades, namely J55, K55, N80, L80, C90, T95, P110, Q125, V150, etc. The steel grade used varies depending on the well condition and depth. In corrosive environments, it is also required that the casing itself has corrosion resistance. In areas with complex geological conditions, it is also required that the casing has anti collapse performance.
Different types of casings used in oil extraction:
Surface oil casing: protects drilling from contamination by shallow water and gas layers, supports wellhead equipment, and maintains the weight of other layers of casing.
Technical oil casing: Separate the pressure at different levels to ensure normal flow of drilling fluid and protect production casing. Install anti burst devices, leak prevention devices, and tail pipes inside the drilling.
Oil casing: Exporting oil and natural gas from underground reservoirs. Used to protect drilling and separate drilling mud into layers. When producing oil casing, the outer diameter is usually 114.3 millimeters to 508 millimeters.
The types and packaging of petroleum casings are divided into two types according to SY/T6194-96 "Petroleum casings": short threaded casings and their couplings, and long threaded casings and their couplings.
Technical specifications for petroleum casing:
(1) According to SY/T6194-96 regulations, the length of domestically produced casing is not fixed, with a range of 8-13m. But sleeves no less than 6m can be provided, and their quantity should not exceed 20%.
(2) The inner and outer surfaces of the casing must not have folds, wrinkles, delamination, cracks, creases, or scars. These defects should be completely removed, and the removal depth should not exceed 12.5% of the nominal wall thickness.
(3) The outer surface of the coupling must not have defects such as folding, hairlines, delamination, cracks, creases, scars, etc.
(4) The surface of the casing and coupling threads should be smooth, without burrs, tears, or other defects that could interrupt the thread and affect the strength and tight connection.

10.3.1 Melting analysis
For Group 1, Group 2 (except for C110 steel grade), and Group 3, when requested by the purchaser, the manufacturer shall provide a melting analysis report for each furnace of steel used to manufacture the products specified in the order. According to the purchaser's requirements, quantitative analysis results of other elements used by the manufacturer to control mechanical properties should also be provided.

10.3.2 Product Analysis
Product analysis should be conducted on two tube products from each furnace of steel. Product analysis should be conducted by the manufacturing plant on precision processed tube products before or after heat treatment. For electric welding products, chemical analysis can be conducted on the steel plate blank for pipe making.
Product analysis should include quantitative analysis results of all elements listed in Table C.4 or Table E.4, as well as quantitative analysis results of other elements used by the manufacturing plant to control mechanical properties.
The product analysis results of Group 1, Group 2 (except for C110 steel grade), and Group 3 should be available to the purchaser as required.
The analysis results of C110 and Q125 steel grade products should be provided to the purchaser.
Note: For coupling, short joints, and accessory materials, the required chemical analysis results can be provided by the steel mill or processing plant, and samples can be taken from the pipe or rod blank materials.
