    API oil casing is the lifeline for maintaining the operation of oil wells. Due to different geological conditions, the stress state underground is complex, and the combined effects of tension, compression, bending, and torsion stress on the casing body pose high requirements for the quality of the casing itself. Once the casing itself is damaged for some reason, it may lead to a reduction in production or even scrapping of the entire well.

    Inspection method for API petroleum casing:

    1. Ultrasonic testing. When ultrasound propagates in the tested material, the acoustic characteristics and internal tissue changes of the material have a positive impact on the propagation of ultrasound. After detecting the degree and situation of ultrasound impact, we can understand the changes in the function and structure of the raw materials.

    2. Radiographic testing. Radiographic testing distinguishes the blackness on the film by utilizing the difference in the amount of radiation transmitted between the normal part and the defect of the API oil casing.

    3. Penetration testing. Penetration testing is the process of using the capillary action of liquids to penetrate penetrating agents into defects on the surface of solid raw materials, and then using a developer to extract the penetrating agent onto the surface, in order to display the presence of defects. Penetration testing is suitable for various metal and ceramic workpieces as well as API petroleum casings. The time from penetration operation to defect occurrence is relatively short, usually around half an hour. Suggest detecting surface fatigue, stress corrosion, and welding cracks, and directly measuring crack size.

    4. Magnetic particle testing. Magnetic particle testing is the use of magnetic flux leakage at the defect site to absorb magnetic particles, forming magnetic traces, providing the appearance of defects, detecting surface and subsurface defects, and easily distinguishing the nature of defects. Painted and electroplated surfaces do not affect the vividness of the inspection.

    5. Eddy current testing. Eddy current testing mainly uses the eddy currents induced by ferromagnetic coils inside the workpiece to analyze the internal quality of the workpiece, and can detect surface and near surface defects of various conductive raw materials. Usually, parameter control is quite cumbersome, and the test results are difficult to explain. And it is required that the test object must be a conductive crack, and the length of the defect can be politely measured.

    6. Magnetic leakage testing. The magnetic flux leakage detection of API petroleum casing is based on the high magnetic permeability characteristics of ferromagnetic materials. Basically, the quality of in-service petroleum casing is tested by measuring the magnetic permeability transition caused by defects in ferromagnetic materials.

    7. Magnetic trace detection. Magnetic trace detection is derived from the relationship between the physical properties of metal magnetic phenomena and dislocation processes. It has the advantages of high utilization, low cost, and no need for grinding, and has important and common application prospects in industry.
